Marguerite C. Blake

Marguerite C. Blake, of Abingdon, Va., passed away peacefully on her birthday, November 19th at the age of 82. She was a former resident of Fort Shelby Manor and most recently Grace Healthcare where she will be fondly remembered by the staff and her fellow residents. Marguerite served as study hall monitor at Lord Botetourt High School in Daleville, Va. where her sons received their secondary education. She encouraged her sons to serve their country in the United States Armed Forces and instilled them with American ideals from an early age.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Cahill and Julia Stanley Cahill; former husband, John Charles Blake, Sr.; and son, Matthew William Blake, who passed away in 1981 at Rhein-Main Air Base in Frankfurt, Germany. She is survived by two sons, John Charles Blake, Jr. of Abingdon and Mark Andrew Blake of Portland, Maine.

According to her wishes, Marguerite was cremated and a private committal service will be held in Daleville, Va.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Grace Healthcare and Caris Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Healthcare Resident Fund, 600 Walden Rd., Abingdon, Va. 24210, in Marguerite’s honor.
