Maria Brunhilde Hilda DeBusk, age 84, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born on October 2, 1931, in Ebernburg, Germany, to the late Heinrich Freudenberger and Karoline Charlotte Freudenberger, maiden name Gross. Hilda was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, was a member of the of the James E. Peters DAV Chapter 57 Ladies Auxiliary, and was employed at Harwood. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Douglas Eugene DeBusk, and a son, Douglas Reid DeBusk. Additionally, she was also preceded in death by her special friend, Diana Mink. Hilda is survived by a son, Billy DeBusk of Abingdon; two daughters, Eveline Trierweiler of Germany and Virginia Charlotte Smith of Florida; three grandchildren, Nicole Gibson, Andy Trierweiler, and Heath DeBusk; and three great grandchildren.A funeral ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with the Rev. Jerry A. Eggers and the Rev. Jim Walker officiating. A committal service will follow at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery where Brad Bailey, Jon Chittum, Randy Hensley, Bill Mink, Frank Mink, and Rick Smith will serve as pallbearers. Members of the James E. Peters DAV Chapter 57 will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9th at the funeral home.
