Mary Alice Severt Blevins

Mary Alice Severt Blevins, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Blevins was born August 1, 1920 in Washington County, VA to the late Arthur and Laura Reedy Severt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Blevins; three daughters, Joan Blevins, Lorraine Blevins, Christine Blevins; and, one grandson, Rocky Blevins.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Holliday and her husband, Fred of Damascus, VA; five sons, Melvin Blevins and his wife, Louise of Green Cove, Steve Blevins and his wife Connie of Damascus, Johnny Blevins and his wife Cathy of Bristol, VA, Terry Blevins of Glade Spring and Lloyd Blevins and his wife, Gina of Abingdon; a special nephew Vaughn Pruitt and his wife Nancy of Vinton, VA; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Severt and his wife, Alice, and Avery Severt and his wife Lucy all of Lenoir, NC; one sister-in-law, Faye Severt of Lenoir, NC; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Green Cove Baptist Church, 31024 Jeb Stuart, Damascus, VA 24236 with Rev. Leonard Tenney officiating. The burial will follow at the Green Cove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Duane Holliday, Vaughn Pruitt, Melvin Blevins, Steve Blevins, Johnny Blevins, Terry Blevins, Lloyd Blevins and David Blevins. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the church Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 6:00 8:00 pm.
