Mary Magdalene Hudler, age 92, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at English Meadows. Mrs. Hudler was born in English, WV but had lived in Abingdon for numerous years. She attended Rosedale Baptist Church. Mary was a homemaker and loved to travel. Through her travels and daily interactions, she spread her contagious smile and joy to all. She loved frogs, and this was evident by her extensive collection.
Mary was predeceased by her husband William, “Stanley” Hudler, parents Morris Harold and Ora Bell Smith Collins, son R. Darvin Hudler, sister Margaret Herron, brothers Don, Morris Harold, Bud and Henry Collins. She is survived by sons Robert and wife Roberta Hudler of Wytheville, VA, William B. Hudler of Lusby, MD and John I. Hudler of Clinton, MD, brothers Dillard, Oscar, Pete, Jarvis and Chester Collins, and numerous grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her loving and care giving niece DeEtta Ratliff.
A funeral service for Mary Magdalene Hudler will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 18, 2017 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Dr. Don Paxton and Lay Minister Mike Arnold officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Entombment at Forest Hills Memory Gardens will be private.
