Mary Marie Martin

Mary M. Blackwell Martin of Emory, VA heeded the call of her Heavenly Father and entered into His presence on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Wellmont Hospice House.
She was born to the late George W. Blackwell and Sallie Helton Blackwell of the Blackwell Chapel Community of Meadowview, VA on December 3, 1925. She was also preceded in death by husband of 36 years, Horace E. Martin; four brothers, Clarence, Jim, Ernest, and Roscoe Blackwell; and two sisters, Lucille Blackwell Snodgrass and Virgie Blackwell Crabtree.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Martin of Emory, VA; son, Freddie Martin of Freeport, FL; daughter-in-law, Sue Martin of Emory, VA; cherished sister, Geneva "Polly" Blackwell Hoback of Medowview, VA; special sister-in-law, Irene Martin Moore of Meadowview, VA; five grandchildren; many cherished nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Barbara Combs and Dallas Breedlove both of Abingdon, VA.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home with Reverend Scott Spence officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2013 to travel in procession to Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Danny Atwell, Mark Blackwell, David Eastridge, Teddy Helton, Mike Hoback, and Jacob Langston will serve as pallbearers. The Congregation of Blackwell's Chapel Church, Sam Eastridge, David White, Dr. William Mark Handy, Dr. Shawn Nelson, Dr. Wendy Strawbridge, Dr. Lisa Verges, the Staff of Johnston Memorial Hospital, and the Staff of Wellmont Hospice House will serve as honorary pallbearers.
