Minnie Ellen McCracken, 90, of Abingdon passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Johnson City Medical Center.
Minnie was a native of Ashe County, NC, and a resident of Abingdon, VA. She was born to the late Arthur and Annie Wilcox and the widow of Jack McCracken. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sons, William McCracken, and Robert McCracken; a brother, Lee Wilcox; and a sister, Margaret Parsons.
She is survived by six sons: David McCracken of Lenoir, NC; Jackie McCracken of Meadowview, VA; Douglas McCracken of Abingdon, VA,; Wayne McCracken of Chilhowie, VA; Ray McCracken of Abingdon, VA; and Arthur McCracken of Meadowview, VA; one daughter, Barbara Ann Chapman of Glade Spring, VA; three brothers: Isaac Wilcox of Meadowview, VA; Paul Wilcox of Meadowview, VA; and Kenneth Wilcox of Ohio; a sister, Bly Barger of Meadowview, VA; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 8:00 PM at Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon, VA, with Pastor Sherrell Dunn officiating. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Mountain View Baptist Church, Abingdon, Virginia. Those attending the graveside service will meet at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 6:00 to8:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
