Muriel Turley Harrison Bailey

Muriel Turley Harrison Bailey, age 93, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 7, 2016, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born to the late James Edward Turley and Bessie Rhudy Turley on October 28, 1922, in Washington County, Va. Muriel was a member of the Rebekahs, the Abingdon Senior Center, and was a volunteer at Johnston Memorial Hospital for several years. She attended Washington Chapel United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Murial was also preceded in death by her first husband, Curtis Cecil Harrison, and, second husband, Thomas Lester Bailey; son, Jerald Lewis Harrison; and two infant daughters, Zelda Darlene Harrison and Benita Gail Harrison. Being the last surviving member of her immediate family, Muriel was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her son, D. Keith Harrison of Abingdon; four daughters: Vonette Bryson and husband Jon of Centreville, Va.; Cheryl Nash and husband Jerry of Abingdon; Patty Prater and husband Randy of Abingdon; Trina Roark and husband Ken of Beaverdam, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2016, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 10th in the mausoleum chapel of Knollkreg Memorial Park with Pastor Larry Lusk officiating.
