Nancy Blevins Brown

Abingdon, VA –  Nancy Blevins Brown, 84, passed away, Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Nancy was born January 9, 1934, in Washington County, Virginia to the late Jacob A. Blevins and the late Gladys Wilson Blevins. Nancy graduated from Liberty Hall High School where she excelled and enjoyed playing basketball. She was a member of Abingdon United Methodist Church and served as a member of the Virginia Highlands Community College Board from 1975 – 1983. Nancy had also worked in various compacities for the Washington County Public School System and People Inc.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David D. Brown; sisters, Margaret Francisco, Dorothy Allen Lewis, and Jacqueline Hartselle; and brothers, Phillip Blevins and James Blevins.

Nancy is survived by her children, Deborah Brown Williams and husband, Charles of Colonial Heights, Va., Charles David “Charlie” Brown and wife, Petissa of Abingdon, Sharon Brown Taylor and husband, Joe of Glade Spring; and Robert Daniel Brown and wife, Sarah of Floyd, Va.; sister, Betty Fontana of Florida; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friend from noon until 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with a cryptside service to follow at 2 p.m. in Knollkreg Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Dr. Robert Countiss officiating. Everyone is asked to assemble at the funeral home by 1:45 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
