Nancy Carmack Mink

Nancy Carmack Mink, 67, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Abingdon Health and Rehab. Nancy was a lifelong resident of Abingdon and was a graduate of Abingdon High School. She attended First Christian Church of Abingdon.
Nancy’s calling was to care for children; not only the young ones that she nurtured in her home, but also the many friends of her children. She was quick to open her home and her heart to others.
Nancy was a friend and had many friends. Some friendships had lasted since kindergarten, and their bonds were very special ones. They got together often for dinner and companionship, and they stayed by her side throughout her life. Nancy also loved being “Nana” to her five grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Nancy had a long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). However, this struggle never dampened her spirit, sense of humor, nor her smile.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James Stuart “Jimmy” Mink, her father Frank Carmack, Sr.
Nancy is survived by her son, James Stuart Mink, Jr., wife Jaime, and their children Parker and Kaitlyn, all of Richmond, Va.; daughter Susan Mink Woods, husband Jimmy, and their children Jennings, Ella, and Aidan, all of Abingdon; her mother, Joyce Carmack; brother Frank Carmack, Jr. and wife Robin of Abingdon; brother- in-law Bill Mink and wife Rita; sisters-in-law Sally Brown and husband Irvin and Annis Wagner and husband Chick, all of Abingdon; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2018, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Tom Crise officiating. The family will greet friends after the service.
