Norma Jean Wilson

ABINGDON

Mrs. Norma Jean Wilson, age 83, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 18, 2016 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Charleston, WV on August 19, 1932 to the late Mr. and Mrs. James M. Hutchinson Sr. She lived most of her life in Buchanan and Russell County, Va., before moving to Abingdon in 1980.

Mrs. Wilson was a high school graduate of Garden High School in Garden, Va. before going to nursing school in Richlands, Va.. She worked as a nurse at Clinch Valley Hospital in Richlands before moving to Abingdon where she did some private duty. She was a Girl Scout leader and loving mother and grandmother. Her passion was taking care of people and children. She was a member of Hansonville Baptist Church in Hansonville, Va..

Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Fred H. Wilson "Do" , one brother James M. Hutchinson, Jr. "Bubby," and one sister Anne Hutchinson.

Surviving are her two sons, Henry E. Farmer and Freddie L. Wilson, both of Abingdon, Va., one daughter, Tammy Renee Shortridge Click and her husband Kenneth "Kenny" W. Smith of Richmond, Va.,;two granddaughters, Makenzie Renee Click of Indiana, and Summer Jean Wilson of WV, and five grandsons John Fore, Jake Gardner, Jordan Gardner, Jackson Fore, and James Gardner all of Winston Salem, NC, and four great-grandchildren Little John Fore, Sadie Fore, Kolton Hall, and Chloe Fore; and one sister, Teresa Murray. Special friends include Virginia Price, Eloise Counts, Doug and Amy Gardner, Glenda Jessee, and Beth Bradshaw.

The viewing will be conducted Wednesday, January 20, 2016, from 5-7 p.m., with the funeral service following at 7 p.m., in the Farris Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth W. Smith, Gary Shortridge, Quinten Shortridge, John Fore, Doug Gardner, and Jimmy Hutchinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Hutchinson, Jackson Fore, Jake Gardner, Jordan Gardner, Hubert Price, Gary A. Lawson, and Cody Hall.

The Interment will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Green Hills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Va.. Those wishing to express sympathy online may do so by visiting www.farrisfuneralservice.com. Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main St., Abingdon, is serving the family of Mrs. Norma Jean Wilson.
