Norma Powers Nuckles

Manassas, VA – Norma Powers Nuckles, age 87 and formerly of Abingdon, VA, passed on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at the home of her son. Norma was born in Buque, VA and lived in Herndon, VA, Manassas, VA, and Amissville, VA before moving to Abingdon in 1990. Mrs. Nuckles retired as a building supervisor for Fairfax County Public Schools and loved to work in her home and yard. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bruce Powers and Virgie Owens Colley; husband, Howard Nuckles; many brothers and sisters; and granddaughter, Dawn Marie Bailey. She is survived by her son, Michael Bailey and wife Sandy of Manassas, VA; three brothers, Graham Colley of Luray, VA, Gary Colley of Stanley, VA, and Darrel Colley of Stanley, VA; one sister, Fairy Rose of Chesterfield, VA; grandson, David Bailey; and great granddaughter, Summer Dawn Bailey. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 28, 2014, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA, with Steve Vaughan officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held from 1-2 p.m. just prior to the service.
