Oscar "June" Tignor, Jr., 58, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at his home on Brumley Gap Road.
He was born in 1953 a baby boy of the late Oscar and Ruby Tignor. He became a man early in life. He was a friend and father to all who grew up in the Brumley Gap community. He was a tobacco farmer and member of Brumley Gap United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jerry Proulex; mother-in-law, Ruby Mullins; dear friend, Charlotte Scalf and a nephew, Greg Reynolds.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Faye Mullins Tignor; two sons, Jamie Tignor and wife, Kim and Daniel Scalf; two daughters, Melinda Tignor and Amanda Tignor all of Abingdon; one brother, Don Tignor and wife, Vickie of Bristol, VA; four sisters, Margaret Salyer and husband, Sam of Abingdon, Beulah Murray and husband, John of Bluff City, TN, Marie Wagner and husband, Walter of Abingdon and Dianna Proulex of Abingdon; five grandchildren, Joshua, Meghan, Amber, Lucas and Julie and several nieces and nephews.
He was not only a father figure to his own family, but to every kid he met. He would take the time to talk to them and would always try to give them a dollar, a knife, or some gift just to make a friend.
Funeral services for Mr. Tignor will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Brumley Gap United Methodist Church with Paul Price and Adam Wise officiating. Interment will follow in the Counts Cemetery in Brumley Gap. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Mullins, Wayne Eastridge, Ronnie Taylor, Randy Mullins, Jack Mitchell, Jason Taylor and Jack Childress. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Childress, Billy "Judge" Reynolds, Bobby Joe Childress, William Alexander, Lynn Reynolds and Kenneth Whitehead.
The family will be receiving friends at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Saturday, November 12, 2011.
