Patricia E. Howell Miller

Patricia E. Howell Miller, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Grace Healthcare. She was born on January 30, 1937 in Glade Spring, VA. Pat was a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Chilhowie, VA. She had the joy of participating on a missionary trip with Riverside Baptist to Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina where she helped restore a church. Her health did not permit her to go on other missions which she regretted.
She was preceded in death by her beloved father and mother, Fred A. Howell and Trula S. Howell White; three brothers, Charles Howell, James Howell, and Kenny Howell; one sister, Mary J. Meade; one granddaughter, Nakeesha Colquitt; and one special sister-in-law, Emogene Howell.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda K. Colquitt of Abingdon, VA and Sandra F. Holbrook and spouse Allen Holbrook of Meadowview, VA; one sister, Regina F. Surber and spouse James Surber "Buster" of Chilhowie; two brothers, Jerry Howell and David Howell, both of Chilhowie, VA; two grandsons, Mack C. Colquitt of Abingdon and David Wilson Holbrook and spouse Teresa of St. Joseph, MO; three great grandchildren, Halea Colquitt of Bristol, VA, Xavier K. Colquitt of Abingdon, VA, and Hailee Wilson Holbrook of St. Joseph, MO; one special niece, Denise Surber of Henrico, VA; one special nephew, Fred Howell and daughter, Kelli Rae of Tulsa, OK; several additional nieces and nephews; and special friends who are considered family, Mary Holbrook of Abingdon, VA, Danny and Shelby Hollyfield, and Vivian "Mammy" Hayes if Chilhowie, VA.
A funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Riverside Baptist Church in Chilhowie, VA with Dr. Jack Garland and Pastor Jonathan Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at the church on Tuesday. A committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Old Glade Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Glade Spring, VA with interment to follow. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to convene at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m., Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Don Cress, Danny Hollyfield, Carter Thomas, Nick Jones, Allen Holbrook, and Thomas Ely. Honorary pallbearers will be John Foster, Jimmy Hughes, and Tommy Tilson.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Grace Healthcare employees for their kind and loving care of Pat during her brief stay. They would also like to thank her friends and church family for their prayers, visits, phone calls, and cards during Pat's illness.
