Paul D. Ross, Sr., age 84, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Wellmont Hospice House. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired as Director of Police from Norfolk and Western Railroad and Norfolk Southern Railroad after 34 years of service.
He was born to the late Reverend Paul Ross and Pearl Adkins Ross in Wayne County, WV. He is also preceded in death by his son, Craig Stephen Ross; brother, Curtis Ross; and two sisters, Joyce Copley and Patricia Ross.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joanne Bunn Ross; son, Paul D. Ross, Jr. "Doug" and wife Sandy of Celina, TN; three brothers, Thomas Ross and wife Lynn of Marietta, GA, Claude Johnson Ross and friend Beverly Gilbert of Marietta, GA, and Charles Glen Ross and wife Shelia of Blacklick, OH; sister, Freda Stefanica of Rittman, OH; brother-in-law, Charles Copley of Broadway, VA; sister-in-law, Jane Ross of Hilliard, OH; three grandchildren, Jamie Ross, Kelly Justice, and Josh Ross; and six great grandchildren, Autumn Ross, Darry Ross, James Ross, Mason Ross, Brady Ross, and Austin Justice.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Reynolds officiating. An Honor Guard will be provided by Norfolk Southern Railroad Agents. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Norfolk and Western Special Agents Greg Duncan, Buck Goforth, Steve Hanes, Lew Kellison, Robert Petties, and Harry Woods will serve as pallbearers. Military honors will be provided by Highland Veteran's Honor Guard and the VA National Guard.
