Peggy Bowers Beach

Mrs. Peggy Bowers Beach, age 78, passed away Wednesday evening April 23, 2014 at the Abingdon Health and Rehab Center. Peggy had spent most of her life in Washington County, VA and was affiliated with the Old Glade Presbyterian Church. She was a retired school teacher, having taught elementary school for over 39 years. Most of her teaching was done in Chilhowie, VA. Peggy loved to collect antiques. She was known by friends and former students for having a very kind and giving heart. It seemed that everywhere she traveled, she would encounter former students who always had a smile and a story about their time in school. Peggy was predeceased by her husband Don (Gene) Beach; parents Thomas Wiley and Maggie Orr Bowers; sister Patsy Davenport and brother-in-law C.W. Davenport. She is survived by her daughter Phyllis Lawrence Ayling of Glade Spring, VA, and niece Malinda Davenport and Robert Anderson of Meadowview, VA. The family will receive friends from 4:00pm until 5:00pm on Saturday April 26, 2014 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Beach wished that memorial contributions be made to the Old Glade Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, 33234 Lee Highway, Glade Spring, VA 24340.
