Phyllis Lee Helton

Phyllis Lee Harmon Helton, age 67, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.  She was born November 14, 1950, in Mosheim, Tenn. to the late Phillip Harmon and Lockie Mae Wise Harmon.  She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and a devoted homemaker.   

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was also preceded in death by her brother, James Harmon; and two great grandchildren, Joshua and Precious Price.

She is survived by three children:  Vernon Helton and wife, Beth, of Saltville, Va.; Connie Brown and husband, David, of Chilhowie, Va.; and Matthew Helton and wife, Brenda, of Abingdon, Va.; six siblings, Joyce Otey of Abingdon, Va.; Tommy Harmon and wife, Sherry, of Ohio; Linda Mabe of Abingdon, Va.; Brenda Brewer and husband, Steve, of Abingdon, Va.; Wayne Harmon and wife, Denise, of Abingdon, Va.; and Marie Davis and husband, Johnny, of Abingdon, Va.; nine grandchildren, Timmy Helton, Kayla Davidson, Stephanie Taylor, Dustin Russell, Tye Price, Kirby Price, Sophia Dixon, Chris Musick, and Austin Helton; several great grandchildren; and two special friends, Ernestine Dunn and Eula Helton.      

A funeral ceremony will be held at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dallas Dye and Rev. Roger Reynolds officiating.  Interment will follow in Mountain View Baptist Cemetery where Joshua Davidson, Austin Helton, Timmy Helton, Kirby Price, Tye Price, and Johnny Wardle will serve as pallbearers.  Vernon Helton, Matthew Helton, David Brown, and Robert Helton will serve as honorary pallbearers.  Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
