Abingdon, VA – Rebecca Joyce Young Atkinson, age 62, passed on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in Valley Health Care Center. Rebecca was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jackie Young; husband, Gordon Atkinson; and brother, Bryant Young.
She is survived by two daughters, Tasha Young and Husband Fred Hill, Jr. of Bristol, TN and Eunice Atkinson and husband Matt Hartman of Bristol, VA; sister, Mary Pope of Atlanta, GA; and grandchildren, Lebron Hartman, Mayte’ Atkinson, Shayla Atkinson, Destini Young-Hill and Maurice Hill.
Visitation with the family will be held 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Mt. Home National Veterans Cemetery with Elder Billy Fullen officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked convene at the cemetery no earlier than 2:10 p.m.
