Abingdon, VA Richard Thomas Dickie Viers, age 75, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. A native of Grundy, Va., he had resided in Abingdon for the past nine years. Dickie served in the United States Air Force and retired from R.R. Donnelly in Lancaster, PA. He was preceded in death by his father James William Viers and mother Olivia Nell McGuire.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Von Norris Viers; daughter, Belinda Viers; and three brothers, Rev. James Viers and wife Jeanetta, Jerry Viers and wife Loretta, and Terry Viers and wife Patricia.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Woodland Hills Christian Church with Pastor Paul Viers officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in Dickies name.
