Robert Allen Wilder, age 78 and born on December 3, 1939, went peacefully to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on February 27, 2018, at his home. He was the son of the late James and Martha Guy Wilder. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, and friend to everyone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Paul, and John Wilder; two sisters, Ruth Cook and Joyce Owens; and step-son, Stephen Eric Hale.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Kay Hale Wilder; two children, Charlene Slater and Jeffery Alan Wilder; step-son, Kelly Shawne Hale; twelve grandchildren; two brothers, Marshall and Jan Wilder; sister-in-law, Dare Frye. He is also survived by a special friend, Robin Turner, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018, in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA, with Deacon Robin Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
