Robert Lee Fields, 73, passed away Monday, January 25, 2010.
He was born in Washington County, VA and was a son of the late Bruce and Lucille Branch Fields. He served with the U.S. Army for five years. Mr. Fields was a member of both the Abingdon Chapter of the Eastern Star #182 and the Abingdon Masonic Lodge #48. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and a deacon there for over 20 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Billy Joe Fields.
Survivors are his wife, Sharon Hinchey Fields; sons, Alan Fields and wife, Karie and Robert Lee Fields, II and wife, Candy both of Abingdon; Sister, Doris Gay Reynolds and husband, Fred of Abingdon; and grandchildren, Katie and Kylie Fields, and Dakota, Nikki, Alexis, Chris, Kenny, John, Austin and Britney Fields.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, January 28, 2010 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor John Price, Pastor Rick Cuddy and Pastor Reed Callahan officiating. Interment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park. Highlands Fellowship Veteran's Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Lee Fields, II, Dakota Fields, Dave Scott, Spike Nickels, Lanny Osborne, Randy Felty and Mike Pippin. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Temple Baptist Church, Men of Berry Creek Baptist Church, and Clarence Krosno.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at Farris Funeral Service from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. with Eastern Star and Masonic rites to immediately follow.
