Rodney Wayne Woodward

Mr. Rodney Wayne Woodward, 62, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 24, 2009. He was a native of Abingdon and was a veteran. He was a retired employee of Food Country. Rodney was a deacon and lifelong member of Woodland Hills Christian Church, and he loved the Lord more than anything.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Irene Woodward; his wife, Clara Woodward; and his grandson, Ashton Woodward.

Survivors include his daughters, Melanie Guinn and Topaz Christian and husband Gene. Surviving grandsons are Dominique, Jayden and Peyton.

Rodney was loved by his family and friends and by his church family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The funeral service for Rodney Woodward will be on Sunday, July 26, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at Woodland Hills Christian Church, 16173 Elementary Drive, Abingdon, VA, with Paul Viers officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with military graveside rites. Pallbearers will be Deacons of the church, and honorary pallbearers will be Elders and men of the church.

The Woodward family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. â?? 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Woodland Hills Christian Church.
