Rose Evelyn Riddle Wilkinson

Rose Evelyn Riddle Wilkinson, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 in Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va. She had been a member of the Meadowview United Methodist Church for 64 years and was a member of the Emmaus Community. Evelyn was proud to have been a member of the Washington County Extension Homemakers Club for 62 years. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Charles Thomas Wilkinson, Jr.; her parents, Samuel and Vivian Litrell Riddle; brother, Sammy Riddle; and sister, Dorothy Taylor. She is survived by her son, Charles Thomas Wilkinson, III and wife Dianne of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter, Carolyn Wilkinson Dando and husband Bruce of Abingdon; sister Eloise Riddle Buckles of Abingdon; nine grandchildren: Matthew (Dana) Dando, Bradley (Kim) Dando, Jonathan (Anna Claire) Dando, Justin (Tara) Wilkinson, Joanna (Kevin) Dennstaedt, Jack Riddle Dando, Evelyn Wilkinson, Charley (Kevin) Saiki, and Lesley Rebecca Wilkinson; 19 great-grandchildren: Brady, Will, Jack, George, Dawson, Walker, Graham, Murphy, Rachel, Charlie, and Cal Dando; Rose, Joy, Ella, and Grant Dennstaedt; Tommy, Eddie, Sammy, and Abe Wilkinson. A funeral service for Rose Evelyn Riddle Wilkinson will held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. David Jackson and Rev. John Dawson officiating. Interment will follow in the Holston Conference Cemetery, Emory, Va., where grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.
