Ruby Jackson Dolinger

Ruby Jackson Dolinger, 89, went to be with the Lord at her home on Thursday, November 30, 2017. Ruby was a devoted Christian and attended Victory Baptist Church. Her church life and home life were one in the same, both filled with dedication and love. She cooked, cleaned, sewed and read her Bible daily, working hard to make her house a home. In her younger life, Ruby worked as a telephone operator. It was over the phone that she met her late husband of 69 years, James. They enjoyed a loving marriage and set an example for others to follow. Her joy, laughter, and big hugs will be missed by those that love her.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents Joe Henry and Gertrude Stines Jackson; brothers James, Robert, and William Jackson; and sisters Kitty Lee Jackson and Evelyn Farmer.
Ruby is survived by her son, Roger Dolinger and wife Sharon of Marion, Va.; daughters Jean Dinsmore and husband Curtis, and Sandra Walker, all of Bristol, Tenn., and Stella Sholes and husband Tim of Bristol, Va.; brothers John Preston Jackson of Live Oak, Fla., Harold Jackson and Joe Jackson, both of Clinton, Iowa; Dan Jackson of Chilhowie, Va., and Ronnie Jackson of Marion, Va.; sisters Lydia Farmer of Marion and Faye Mullins of Adwolf, Va.; grandchildren Chris Robinson, Timm Robinson, Bethany Evans, Tina Mullins, Lee Dinsmore, Drew Dolinger, Derek Sholes, Nathan Sholes, Robbie Walker, Ben Walker, Alison Blevins and Haley Phipps; 24 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and one TBD.
A memorial service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Dr. Austin Cook officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
