Ruby Jean Layne Ratliff

Dateline: Abingdon, VA- Ruby Jean Layne Ratliff, age 81, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2015, at her home. Locally she was a member of Macedonia Church of Christ and formerly attended Big Branch Church of Christ in Oakwood, VA. She was born to the late Virgil Clyde Layne and Lola Griffith Layne on April 13, 1934. In addition to her parents, Ruby was also preceded in death by two sisters, Edith and Shirley Layne. Ruby is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Frank H. Ratliff; daughter, Pam Ratliff of Johnson City, TN; two brothers, Dallas Layne of Pikeville, KY and Donald Lee Layne of Oakwood, VA; sister, Garnette Layne Stewart of Roanoke, VA; granddaughter, Angela Nichole Herndon of Blountville, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2015, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Family and friends will meet at the mausoleum of Mountain View Cemetery in Bristol, VA for a cryptside service at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 6th where Minister Ron Musick and Minister Stanley Smith will officiate. Ruby’s nephews, Paul, David, and Don Lee Layne, Jonathan Ross, Paul, Ricky, Donny, James, John, and Scotty Ratliff, Michael LaTragna, and Chris Albert will serve as honorary pallbearers. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.
