Mrs. Ruby L. Watson, widow of Frank F. Watson, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at age 92. She was a devoted wife and mother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bessie Tillison Mitchell; two sons, Robert Watson who died in infancy and Franklin Bruce Watson; and daughter, Barbara Luella Watson.
Mrs. Watson had devoted her life to her family. She had worked in nursing at Bristol Memorial Hospital and also in private practice for Upjohn Home Health Care during the 1970's. Ruby was proud to be a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her joy in life included playing several musical instruments, sewing, crocheting and especially being outdoors in her garden or mowing her yard.
She is survived by four daughters, Donna White of Indialantic, FL, Kaye Dye and husband Eugene of Charlotte, NC, Sharon Ingmire and husband Michael of Charlotte, NC, and Karen Clarke and husband Monty of Kingsport, TN; three brothers, Douglas Mitchell of Abingdon, VA, Roy Mitchell and wife Pansy Covington of Atlanta, GA, and Dale Mitchell and wife Julie of Bristol, VA,; two sisters, Katie Mitchell of Montross, VA and Edith Mitchell of Abingdon, VA; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and several great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor J.W. Depew officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Eugene Dye, Monty Clarke, Michael Ingmire, Robert Clarke, Roy Mitchell, Bobby Mitchell, and Mark Davenport. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Junior "June Bug" Foran, Jamie White, Gerald Mitchell and Dean Fulton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250, or the C.C. Porter Washington County Animal Shelter, 27252 Porter Lane, Abingdon, VA 24211, as well as the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.
