Russell Ray Stillwell, 78, of Glade Spring, Va., passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017, after an extended illness. He was son of the late Russell A. Stillwell of Strasburg, Va. and the late Ruth E. Neikirk Stillwell of Glade Spring.
Russell was retired from General Dynamics in Marion, Va. after 40 years of service. He was a member of Washington Springs Methodist Church and a longtime member of the Eleventh Hour gospel group.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, E. Carol Porter; his brother, J. David Stillwell; his son-in-law, Randal W. White; and his great-granddaughter, Kayleigh P. White.
Russell is survived by his wife, Laura F. Holdaway Stillwell; his four brothers, Donald E., Ronald E., Jerry D., and Frank E. “Jake” Stillwell; his two sisters, Elizabeth A. “Janie” Hicks and Linda K. Thomas; his three children, Russell R. Stillwell, Jr. of the home, Michael L. Stillwell and wife Linda I. Stillwell of Jonesborough, Tenn., and Kimberly A. White of Glade Spring; six grandchildren, Randal, Ann, Elizabeth, Katie, Emily, and Jeremy; and four great-grandchildren.
The family would like to offer thanks to Valley Healthcare Center for their dedicated care over the last five years.
