Sandra E. Leonard

Abingdon, Va. 

Sandra Elizabeth Leonard was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 31, 2018. She is survived by her husband Rick; her two sons, Justin Leonard and Shayne Leonard and his wife Alysia; her two grandchildren, Ava and Isaiah Leonard; her parents Henson and Hazel Pope; her brothers Dean Pope, Ricky Pope, and Michael Pope; one sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Randy Hensley; and several nieces and nephews. 

Sandi, as she was known to her family and friends, was a devout Christian who always pointed others to her Lord and Savior, both by her confession of faith and the sure testimony of her deeds. She was unashamedly Christian and wanted everyone she knew to be as dedicated to God as she was. She was a wonderful mother, teaching her children in the faith, and witnessed both of them confess that same faith in Jesus. She was as devoted a wife as can be had, never failing to love and support her husband. She married her high school sweetheart Rick and never looked back. All who had the privilege of knowing her are better off for it, and the hole she is leaving in the hearts of her loved ones may never heal. She is and will be continually missed, and only the God that she so revered will be able to comfort her family and those who got to personally and intimately know her. 

The funeral service for Sandi Leonard will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Roger Ball and Rev. Clifford Roark, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Pope Family Cemetery, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at the funeral home.
