Sara Faustina Casanova Jackson, age 76 and formerly of Bristol, VA, passed on Monday, December 17, 2012 in Pembroke Pines, FL after a long illness. Mrs. Jackson was born in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to the late Benito and Carmen Casanova. She married her late husband, Kenneth Lee Jackson, on July 16, 1957 in Havana, Cuba, before moving to the United States.
She is survived by her daughter, Abby Jackson Lynch and husband David Ruff Lynch of Colonial Heights, VA; grandsons, Adam Ruff Lynch and girlfriend Kelly Joyce of Pearisburg, VA, Tyler Nathaniel Lynch and girlfriend Jessica Updike of Rock Hill, SC; sister, Raquel Perera and husband Dr. Walfrido Perera of Pembroke Pines, FL; sister-in-law, Sue Jackson of Smithfield, VA and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Bobby Carbary officiating. Inurnment will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park.
Visitation with the family will be held from 1-2 P.M. just prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
