Sharon Elaine Kestner

Sharon Elaine Kestner, age 64, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at the Wellmont Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born to the late Clarence Banner Kestner and Clara Mae Tate Kestner on December 31, 1951. Sharon was a lifelong member Chestnut Grove Community Church. She was the heart of her family and will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was also preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Kestner; and an infant sister, Linda Kestner.
She is survived by seven siblings, Steve Kestner of the home; Jeff Kestner and wife Barbara of Meadowview, Va.; Carolyn Boardwine and husband Bob of Bristol, Tenn.; Freda Boardwine and husband Frank of Bristol, Tenn.; Jim Kestner and wife Opal of Glade Spring, Va.; Garnett Kestner of Orange, Va.; and Troy Kestner of Abingdon, Va.; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and special friends. Sharon had three special girls to whom she was known to as Mother Bear, Alyssa, LeAnna, and Lauren Fields.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Clifton Duncan and Pastor Jason Nunley officiating. A committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11th at Knollkreg Memorial Park where Allen Boardwine, Leslie Kestner, Sean Kestner, Mason McGinnis, Kodi Pickle, and Kole Pickle will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Breedlove, G.C. Brown, Dave Eastridge, Mark Fields, Horton Kestner, Carl Sullins, and Kenneth Taylor.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the physicians and staff of the Johnston Memorial Regional Cancer Center and Wellmont Hospice.
