Sherrie Hughes Stuart

Sherrie Hughes Stuart, age 57, of Meadowview, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 23, 2018, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 17, 1960 in Richlands, Va. to Edgar Dean Hughes and the late Ruth Ann Hughes.  Sherrie was a member of Highlands Fellowship Church where she enjoyed serving in the HF Kids Ministry.  She worked alongside her husband, George, at General Dynamics for nearly 15 years where she found many special friends.  You could find Sherrie most any time at her grandchildren’s school events, witnessing her faithful love of the Lord, or enjoying outdoor activities with George and their loyal four-legged companion, Chloe.     

Those left to cherish her memories include her husband and best friend of 40 years, George David Stuart; father, Edgar Dean Hughes of Meadowview, Va.; sister, Lisa Sutherland and husband, Rick, of Abingdon, Va.; two daughters, Deana Duffield and husband, Dwayne, and Jenny Mutter and husband, Brian, all of Meadowview, Va.; cherished grandchildren, Logan and Jacob Mutter and Bryson Duffield; and several special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Hwy., Abingdon, VA 24210, with Pastor Brent Stuart officiating.  A committal service will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Bryson Duffield, Dwayne Duffield, Eric Hoffman, Brian Mutter, Jake Mutter, Brad Stuart, Mike Stuart, and Rick Sutherland will serve as pallbearers.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Friday at the Forest Hills Chapel prior to the service.       

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Center, 2840 Electric Rd., Suite 106A, Roanoke, VA 24018.  The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Cancer Center and the third-floor staff of Johnston Memorial Hospital.
