Shirley A. Bordwine, age 91, our devoted mother, granny and great-granny, went to be with her parents, husband and siblings on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN. Until her health declined, she loved working with her flowers and antiques.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew J. and Nannie E. Sutherland Arrington; husband, Charles Newton Bordwine; brothers, Duard, Jack and Tom "Conway" Arrington; and sisters, Leone McAmis, Bunie Cornett, Rosie Dunn and Betty Hawthorne.
She is survived by her son, Gizmo (Brenda) Bordwine of Abingdon, VA; daughter, Keys (Danny) Camper of Roanoke, VA; granddaughters, Mandy (Jim) Lieb of Salisbury, MD and Whitney Camper of Arlington, VA; great-granddaughters, Lexi and Stella Lieb; and many special nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Knollkreg Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00-2:30 P.M. Thursday at the Main Street location of Farris Funeral Service. Those who wish to travel in procession to the cemetery are asked to convene at the funeral home by 2:30.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Bordwine's name to the Abingdon Senior Citizens Center Meals on Wheels Program, 300 Senior Drive, Abingdon, VA 24210.
