Shirley Jean Garland, 82, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Russell County, Virginia to the late Henry Stapleton and the late Nola Saylers Stapleton.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clay Garland; sister, Christine Kilgore; and brother, Bill Stapleton.
Shirley graduated from Staunton School for the Deaf and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Kingsport. She worked for 20 years at Russell Manufacturing in Lebanon, Virginia and retired from Bristol Compressors with 25 years of service.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Robin White and husband Rick of Bristol, Va.; grandchildren, Robin Marion and husband Jamie of Bristol, Va., and Michael Roe and wife Amanda of Bristol, Va.; step-granddaughter, Christie Waldon and husband Bobby of Bristol, Va.; great-grandchildren, Katlyn Bowles, Hayleigh Marion, Michael Roe, Jacob Roe, and Tyler Roe.
The funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2019 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Mike Leonard and Rev. Peggy Meade officiating.
