Sonny Lee Hickman

Abingdon, VA Sonny Lee Hickman, 76, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 5, 2015, at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born to the late Hurtle Hickman and Etta Beatrice Miller Hickman on July 5, 1939 in Blountville, Tenn. A carpenter by trade, he was instrumental in building homes and infrastructure throughout the state. He was a member of Glade Spring Christian Fellowship. In addition to his parents, Sonny was also preceded in death by his sister, Ada Lee Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Louise Kennedy Hickman; son, Gregory Lee Hickman and wife Teresa of Abingdon; two daughters, Tammy Jo Calhoun and husband Jerry of Meadowview, Va., and Donna Kay Goff and husband Kevin of Saltville, Va.; sister, Delores Eileen Childress of Abingdon; half-brother, Earl Hickman and wife Judy of Church Hill, Tenn; four grandchildren: Amber Robinson and husband Jeff of New Castle, Va., Samuel Hickman of Abingdon, Caleb Norris of Glade Spring, Va., and Joshua Norris of Glade Spring; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA, 24210. A funeral ceremony will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, at the Forest Hills Chapel with Pastor Tim Norris and Bro. Caleb Norris officiating. A committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2015, at Old Glade Presbyterian Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from grandsons and friends.
