Thelma Mae Wyatt Norris, age 87, passed on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at her home. Thelma was a lifelong resident of Abingdon, VA and was a member of Trigg Street Church of God. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray Bernard Wyatt and Ella Mae Thomas Wyatt; husband of 51 years, Dewey Norris; brother, Ray Ervin Wyatt; and sister, Myrtle Mays.
She is survived by two sons, Don Norris and special friend Jean Napier of Bristol, TN and Doug Norris of Abingdon, VA; three daughters, Freda Canter of Abingdon, VA, Ann Heath and husband Joe of Abingdon, VA, and Crystal Griffin and husband William of Abingdon, VA; three sisters, Annabelle Callahan of Abingdon, VA, Mildred McSwain of Bristol, TN, and Violet Dollinger of Abingdon, VA; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and loyal companion, her dog Baby.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2014, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Steve Vaughan officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with David Rowe, Greg Rowe, Robbie McCracken, Michael McCracken, Wes Norris, Dustin Rowe, Tim Estes, Jr., and Robert Norris serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Russell and Joseph Heath.
Visitation with the family will be held 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Those wishing to express sympathy online may do so by visiting www.farrisfuneralservice.com and signing the online guest register.
