Thelma "Pooch" Lewis

Abingdon, Va. - Mrs. Thelma “Pooch” Lewis, 88, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at her home. Thelma was born and raised in Saltville, Va., daughter of the late Litch and Georgia Fields Hayton. Mrs. Lewis was a devout Christian and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emery R. Lewis, Sr.; four brothers and five sisters; and a grandson, Adam Paul Lewis.

Survivors include her children Garland Ray Lewis and wife Pauline; Carolyn Sue Foglesong and fiancé Tommy Worley; Emery Reece Lewis, Jr. and wife Shirley; Lois Ann Ramey and husband David; Loretta Marie Doane and fiancé Gregg Fulmer; Patricia Kay Parson; Harold Eugene Lewis and wife Gail; and Thelma Louise Horn and husband Donnie. Other survivors include two sisters, Bernice Henegar of Norfolk, Va., and Elsie Waldron of Maryland; one brother Marcial Hayton of Liberty, S.C.; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mrs. Thelma Lewis will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Bro. Jessie Reece Parson and Bro. Ralph Wilson officiating. Singing will be provided Ken and Chris Holmes. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Larry Brummet, Roy Foglesong, David Foglesong, Matt Hawkins, Dylan Cummings, Donald Jeffery Doane, Daniel Doane, and Jessie Parson will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the funeral home.
