Tom Arrington

Tom "Conway Twitty" Arrington, 73, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 20, 1936, in Washington County, Virginia, a son of the late Andy and Nannie Arrington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Arrington, and by his sisters, Rose Dunn, Bunice Cornett, Betty Hawthorne, and Leone McAmis.

He was well known in his community as a loving and caring person. He was also known for his love of Mountain Dew and Loretta Lynn. Conway was a special person that touched the lives of those he met.

He is survived by his sister, Shirley Bordwine; his brother, Duard Arrington; several nieces and nephews, including Ava Warren and husband, Jeff who have been his caregivers for several years and special great nephew and niece, Cable and Rocky Warren.

The family would like to especially thank all his friends and neighbors for making his life special and making him the person he was.

Funeral services for Conway will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Saturday, November 7, 2009 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Dr. Hubert Wishon officiating. The family will be receiving friends prior to the service Saturday beginning at 5:00 P.M.

A committal service will be held 4:00 P.M. Sunday, November 8, 2009 in Rock Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason McCall, Adam Wilson, Tim Widener, Jim Gardner, Tom Buchanan, Mark Farris, Joe Reeves and Martin Agee. Honorary Pallbearers will be his friends at Tri-State Livestock Market, Bill Hockett, Gary Crookshank and Bill Trent.
