Tommy Lee Dotson

Abingdon, Va.

Mr. Tommy Lee Dotson, age 85, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 in his home with his loving wife, Stella and sister-in-law, Arbutus Fletcher by his side.

Mr. Dotson was born July 17, 1932 in Dickenson County, Va. to the late Glenn Scott Dotson and the late Eunice Ruth Browning Dotson. Mr. Dotson retired in 1985 from the Fairfax County Public School System and was a member of Spoon Gap Freewill Baptist Church. Besides his parents Mr. Dotson is preceded in death by two brothers, Carol Gray Dotson and Ronald Dotson; and one sister, Dorothy Mullins.

Mr. Dotson is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Stella Boggs Dotson; daughter, Michele D. Hancasky and husband, Robert of Alexandria; brothers, Paul Dotson of Coeburn, Mitchell Dotson and wife, Patty of Clintwood, Herbert Dotson and wife, Joyce of Clintwood, Duval Dotson and wife Doris of Manassas, J.J. Dotson and wife Laura of Harrisburg; three sisters, Mary Sue Pugh of Roanoke, Drema Anderson and husband, Ronnie of North Carolina, and Marcelle Ramey and husband, Crawford of Clintwood; two grandsons, Robbie Hancasky and Tommy Hancasky both of Alexandria; two granddaughters, Heather Showalter and husband, James of Alexandria and Bethany Hubbard and husband, Jacob of Abingdon; two great-grandchildren, Destiny and Dakota Showalter both of Alexandria. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 in Spoon Gap Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Herbert Bailey officiating. A committal service will follow in Mountain View Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends from noon until time for the funeral service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tn. 38105.
