Vernon Rose

Mr. Vernon Rose, age 85, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015 in Abingdon, VA. Mr. Rose was born October 29, 1930 in Dickenson County, VA to the late Walden D. Rose and Minda Sheckler Rose. Vernon graduated from Haysi High School and served in the United States Air Force; he had a long career in the grocery industry. Mr. Rose loved to play golf, watch old movies, and he loved animals. Mr. Rose was of the Catholic faith. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Don Rose. Mr. Rose is survived by two sons, Vernon Rose, Jr. and wife, Nina of Smithfield, Va, and David B. Rose and wife, Ann of St. Charles, IL; and one sister, Daphane Griffith of Vincennes, IN. Six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. The family would like to thank Dolores Farmer and family for their love and kindness they have shown to Vernon. A memorial service will be conducted Friday, November 20, 2015 at 2 P.M. in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with the Rev. Barbara Farmer officiating.
