Vicki Smith Norris

Vicki Smith Norris, age 70, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in Johnston Memorial Hospital surrounded by all her family.

Vicki was born April 6, 1947 in Newport News, Va. to the late Ernest L. Smith and the late Helen Loviner Smith. She was a member of Abingdon Bible Church where she loved to work with children and she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Vicki was a loving, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of thirty-seven years, Lawrence Alton “Bud” Norris; grandchild, Jayla Cannon Sullivan; and one step-daughter, Peggy Norris.

Vicki is survived by two sons, Michael A. Owens of Portsmouth, Va. and William “Bill” Owens of Richmond, Va.; one daughter, Tammy Kimberlin and husband, Stuart of Saltville, Va.; two step-daughters, Robin Ratcliff and husband, John of Bristol, Va. and Mary Norris Poe and husband, Michael of Abingdon, Va.; two brothers, Lloyd Smith and wife, Lori of Maryland and David Smith and wife, Janel of Surgoinsville, Tn.; one sister, Faye Callahan of Abingdon, Va.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Abingdon Bible Church, 16210 Elementary Drive, Abingdon, Va. 24210, with Dr. Paul Bufford officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Cody McCracken, Shane McCracken, Jordan Owens, Ethan Kimberlin, Robert Thompson, and Rodney Tolbert serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be her grandson,William Owens. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church.
