Weaver Earl Jackson Owens, age 72, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Bristol Regional Medical Center .
He was a life-long resident of Washington County , VA and lived with one of his beloved sisters, Louise Doss for over 23 years. Weaver had worked for Abingdon Roofing and Cozart warehouses. He had spent most of his life farming.
Weaver was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Bessie Ellen Thomas Owens; his wife, Violet Hughes Owens; two sisters, Ruth Thomas and Francis Thomas; and three brothers, Carl ââ?¬Ë?Mose' Owens, Junior Owens and Charlie Owens.
He is survived by four sisters, Louise Doss of Glade Spring, Katherine Sipes of Abingdon, Barbara Barnes and Nancy Palmer of Marion; two brothers, Eugene Owens and his wife, Kay of Meadowview, and James Owens and his wife, Louise of Damascus; several nieces and nephews; and one great-niece whom he loved and cherished, his little buddy, Katelyn Doss.
The funeral service will be held at 8 pm, Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Jay Taylor and Tim Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 6pm until the time of the service.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the Rush Creek Cemetery . Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50. Pallbearers will be Allen Owens, Charlie Doss, Archie Griffey, Doug Doss, Joseph Barnes and Michael Whittaker. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Doss and Carroll Doss.
