William Andrew Bailey, age 76, passed away December 22, 2009 at Holston Valley Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, George D. Bailey and mother, Bertha Kestner Bailey.

He graduated from Greendale High School, Washington County Technical School, and retired as a Supervisor for Norfolk Southern Railway with 34 years employment. He served 4 years in the Air Force. He served three terms as Councilman for the City of Jellico, TN. He was a member of Abingdon Baptist Church, American Legion Post #12. He was an avid amateur radio operator, holding membership in MEARS, QCWA, SCARS, Amstat, ARRL, 10-10, and Air Force MARS.

Survivors include his wife Luedell Scott Bailey; sons William Donald Bailey and wife Kathy, Jellico, TN; Bryan Dudley Bailey and wife Mina, Williamsburg, VA; Gregory Alan Bailey and wife Terry, Talbott, TN; grandchildren, Johnathan and wife Serepta, Jessica, Nicki, Sarah, Andrew and Austin; great grandchild Callum Andrew; sisters-in-law Pat Moore and husband John, and Gladys Snead; nephew Mike Snead and wife Candy and children Jewel, Bryan and Lewis.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 PM on December 24, 2009 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. Steven Pollard officiating. Graveside services will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with military honors conducted by the Highlands Fellowship Veteran's Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Jim Vicars, Leon Mullins, Richard Burke, Billy Mitchell, Billy Scyphers, and Johnny Crigger. Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Burke and Ray Duncan.
