Mr. William Douglas "Bud" Fleenor, age 80, passed away Tuesday October 29, 2013 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Mr. Fleenor was a lifelong resident of Washington County, VA and was a faithful and lifelong member of the Wyndale United Methodist Church. Bud was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a Military Policeman. He studied accounting at Emory & Henry College and retired from Sprint, formerly United Intermountain Telephone Company, after 32 years of employment. Mr. Fleenor was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Lucy Whitt Fleenor; three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Joann M. Fleenor; one son, Mark Gregory Fleenor and wife Cynthia of Abingdon; two brothers, Michael E. Fleenor of Abingdon and Johnny L. Fleenor and wife Teresa of Meadowview; two sisters, Brenda D. Vance of Pensacola, FL, and Linda J. Sloan of Abingdon; two grandchildren, Aaron Todd Fleenor and wife Megan, and Julie Anne Eades and husband Matthew; one great-grandchild, Andrew Wayne Eades; several nieces, nephews; and many friends at Wyndale and Wallace UMC.
Funeral services for Mr. William Douglas "Bud" Fleenor will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2013, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, with the Rev. Luther Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends at the Forest Hills Chapel from 5-7 p.m. just prior to the service.
A committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rusty Street, Danny Price, David Allen Price, and Michael Price serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to convene at the cemetery by 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the charity of one's choice. Those who would like to express sympathy online may do so by visiting www.farrisfuneralservice.com and signing the online guest register.
