William Robert "Bill" Hunt, 68, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013, at University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill. He was born in Bronx, NY on July 30, 1945, to the late Bob and Anne Hunt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara.
Bill was a retired accountant, having owned his own private practice in New York City, and was a United States Marine Corps Veteran. He was a member of St. Anne's Church in Bristol, VA and enjoyed his family, golf, travelling and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Carene Pagonis Hunt; one son, William Hunt; brother, Brian Hunt, his wife Rosemary and their children, Brian and Theresa Hunt, all of Yonkers, NY; his three loving nieces, Deborah, Dianne, and Donna; and loyal companion, Bear.
Visitation for Bill's friends will be held 6-9 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. A funeral mass will be conducted at 11: 00 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2013, at St. Anne's Catholic Church with Father Kevin Segerblom officiating. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum with Military Rites conducted by the Patton Crosswhite VFW Post and the Virginia National Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be made to help sponsor an educational fund for their sponsored children, Genesis and Jose in Chile and Rafael in the Philippines. You can contact the Christian Foundation at 800-875-6564 and reference CH493259 and ASC532515 when making your donation. Memorials may also be made directly to the Christian Foundation, One Elmwood Avenue, Kansas City, KS 66103. The family would appreciate any donation since these children have been their special blessing since they were very young and would like to see them through college.
