Woodrow "Cotton" Lewis Orfield, 75, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
Woodrow was born July 26, 1933 to the late Woodrow and Hannah Atkins Orfield. He was a life long resident of Washington County and a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaret.
Survivors are a son, Sonny Orfield and wife Crystal of Abingdon; two brothers, George Orfield and wife Brenda of Abingdon and Ed Orfield and wife Judy of Bristol; two sisters, Stella Blackwell of Abingdon and Mildred Ferguson and husband Virgil of Abingdon; two grandchildren, Tanner and Madison Orfield; sisters-in-law, Daphne Blevins, Patsy Galliher, and Ann Litton; special niece Chrissy and Tony Orfield and their children Angus and Hannah; and several nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service-Main Street from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 12, 2009. Burial will follow the visitation in the Old Glade Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Jim Litton and Rev. Charles DeBord. Pallbearers will be Angus Orfield, Tony Orfield, John Harris, Dale Keesee, Wesley Harris, and Charles Davidson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Galliher, Bill Keesee, Randy Galliher, Buck Orfield, Virgil Ferguson, Eddie Orfield, Earl Blackwell, Ed Orfield, Tim Blackwell, Teddy Crusenberry, David Harris, Mike Harris, Dean Harris, Kenneth Harris, Buck Davidson, Paul Vando, and Bill Keesee.
The family would like to thank Dr. Swan for the care provided to Mr. Orfield during his illness.
