Alfred Glass

Alfred “Al” Dewayne Glass of Chilhowie, Va passed away Feb. 19th at the age of 80. Al was born in 1945 to Henry and Betty Glass. Al was a cherished father, husband, grandfather, friend and neighbor. He was a member of Chilhowie Baptist Church and a faithful man of god. He was a man of hard work, strength, determination and humbleness.

The first chapter of his life began in 1966 when he married Linda Lloyd Glass. They were married 35 years before she passed and together raised a family of 3 children. He instilled honest values, integrity and an appreciation of the simplest things in life.

His second chapter in life began when he married Mary “Sue” Bise in 2006. They had been married 20 years until his passing.

Al was preceded in death by his first wife Linda Glass, daughter Lisa Glass Fields and granddaughter Rebecca Glass. He is survived by his wife Mary “Sue” Glass; his son Randy (Lisa Hurt) Glass and daughter Leslie (Robert James) Barrett. Grandchildren Brittany Barrett(Brian Jones), Jessee Barrett and Dakota Fields and great granddaughter Annabelle Glass and great grandson Kaiden Jones. Stepdaughter Susan (Buddy) Wagoner, step-sons Tim Bise, David Bise, Danny (Christy) Bise. Step-grandchildren Josh Wagoner, Katie Wagoner, Kenzie Rouse, Madison Bise and Abby (Jonathan) Sheperd and step-great grandchildren Avery and Easton along with more beloved family and friends.

Al’s kindness, generosity and love for his family and friends will forever remain in the hearts that knew him. His wonderful smile will be truly missed.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service will a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Graveside will be held following service at Old Glade Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Pastor Cody Sturgill Officiating. Pallbearers will be Dakota Fields, Josh Wagoner, James Barrett, Buddy Wagoner, Tim Bise, and Brian Jones. Honorary Pallbearers are Jessee Barrett and Kaiden Jones.
