Ann Wright Gorney

Ann Wright Gorney, age 88, passed away peacefully and went to her forever home with Jesus on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Al Wright and Bernice Reed Wright, and her daughter, Melody Conn Repanskek. She is survived by her husband, George E. Gorney; two daughters, Tamara Morin and her husband, Mario, and Sarah Wright; and granddaughter, Raven Martin.

Ann retired from Sentara Norfolk General in Material Management, Norfolk, VA. She moved back to the area where she grew up and dearly loved. Ann will be remembered for her love and kindness to others, in addition to her hospitality. She was a great baker, and many friends enjoyed her fresh-baked, delicious gifts.

A special thank you to Dr. Mark Handy and his team during her illness. Also, thank you to Ann’s on-call friend, Joyce, who always encouraged and prayed with her. She was a true friend. Ann was a member of Greendale Chapel.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Farris Funeral Service–Main Street Chapel, 427 E. Main Street, Abingdon, VA. The funeral for Ann will be held at 5:00 p.m., with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. The burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon. Those attending the burial are asked to be at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m.
