Anthony “Tony” Childress, Sr., age 83, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at his residence in Bristol, VA. He was born in Buchanan County, VA to Earl Elijah Childress and Myrtle Ratliff Childress on February 24, 1940.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Cruise Childress; sister, Debbie Childress Woods and husband Johnny Woods; two sons, Anthony E. Childress, II and wife Pat and Stephen L. Childress; daughter, Tarina Louise Childress; seven grandchildren, Kara Brooke Davis and husband Chandler, Anthony “Trey” Childress, III and wife Abby, Nick Childress, Samuel Childress, Luke Childress, Micah Shane Cox, and Elizabeth Renne’ Cox.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Mountain View United Methodist Cemetery, 20241 Green Spring Road, Abingdon, VA 24211 with Rev. Rich Pannell officiating.
