Barbara LaRue Knight

Abingdon, VA – Barbara LaRue Knight, age 74, passed on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at her home.  Barbara was born in New York and moved with her family to Roanoke, Virginia as a child where she was a graduate of Cave Spring High School.  

After marrying her husband, George Knight, she lived in Roanoke, Virginia, and was an LPN until they moved to Richmond, Virginia where Barbara was a dental assistant for many years.  In 2007, she and George retired and moved to Abingdon, Virginia.  Barbara enjoyed cross stitching and collecting things of many natures.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Henry LaRue and Jane Curtis LaRue, and brother-in-law, Jim Groseclose.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 54 years, George Knight; son, Kirk Knight and wife Cathy of Abingdon, Virginia; daughter, Kim Lando and husband Chris of Fredericksburg, Virginia; sister, Jill Groseclose of Abingdon, Virginia; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two nieces, and one nephew.

Visitation with the family will be held 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.  Memorial services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ed Lilley officiating.  A private interment will be held in Green Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery at a later date.
