Barbara Buckles "Bobbie" Woodard

Barbara Buckles Woodard, lovingly known as “Bobbie”, age 78, joined her Heavenly Father peacefully on November 4, 2022, with her family by her side.  Bobbie was from both Cedar Bluff, VA and Deltona, FL.  She was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church in Abingdon.  Bobbie was born in Bristol, VA and raised in Meadowview, VA.  She was a graduate of Patrick Henry High School in 1961.  Bobbie obtained her associates degree and worked as a secretary. 

Later in life she found her favorite way to help provide for her family as a waitress at “Friendly’s” in Kissimmee, FL.  Some of her best friends were made here, meeting people from around the world.  She never met a stranger.  Bobbie’s passion was music, especially playing the piano, but she could play most any instrument she chose.  Bobbie also enjoyed drawing, painting, and time with family.  While she will be missed by many, she is again in the arms of her beloved husband who died in 2004.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia Alma Buckles and William Russell Buckles; brother, William Stuart Buckles; and husband, Douglas L. Woodard.

Bobbie is survived by her daughter, Missy Woodard; son, Travis Woodard and wife Melissa; sister, Bettie Minton and husband Allen; brother, Joe Buckles and wife Debbie; grandchildren, Courtney Pudles, Holly Casura, and Emma Woodard; great grandchildren, Ayden Young, Dawson Casura, and Wyatt Casura; daughter by choice, Syndee Saleem; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at the Forest Hills location of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Lawrence Hayes officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Travis Woodard, Joe Buckles, Allen Minton, Erik Hinchey, Adam Buckles, Jeff Baxter, and Ayden Young serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tazewell County Animal Shelter, 736 Camp Joy Road, Bluefield, VA 24605, in honor of Bobbie due to her love for dogs.  Those wishing to express sympathy online may do so by visiting www.farrisfuneralservice.com and signing the online guest register.
