Bernice Wilson Polston

Bernice (Wilson) Polston, age 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 18th, 2026 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. She was born February 26, 1932 in Kentucky, daughter of the late Paralee (New) & Earl Roscoe Wilson. She was married to the love of her life Charles Polston on September 2, 1950 they had been married for 73 years at the time of his passing.

Bernice and her late husband Charles were long-time members of First Baptist Church. She was an avid golfer who loved playing with her husband and friends. She was, also, an avid traveler who enjoyed gong on cruises. Bernice enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking for her family.

Those left to cherish Bernice’s memory include her daughter Sherri (Carlisle) Cox of Abingdon, VA; three grandchildren Haley (Todd) Ireland of Greenwood, IN. Steven (Dani) Anderson of Peoria, AZ Sarah (Derek) Daubenmire of Ft. Worth, Texas. Three great-grandchildren Jacob and Emily Miller and Charlie Rose Anderson and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Bernice was preceded in death by a daughter Paula Henderson and her brother and sisters. Though she will be greatly missed by her family and friends Bernice and the love of her life Charles Polston will be together once again.
